In the bay of Conca dei Marini, not far from Amalfi and Praiano, there is the famous emerald grotto, a karstic grotto named after the emerald green colour of its water due to a trick of the light.
On the sea bottom there is a nativity scene made of pottery.
You can reach the emerald grotto by boat from the Amalfi harbour.
Alternatively, you can drive there and park the car at the stopping place right above the grotto, then take the lift and reach the entrance of the cave. Once the ticket is paid, a boat will take you inside the grotto.
You can visit the grotto from morning till afternoon. Before getting there, keep in mind that even if the view is amazing the visit is not that cheap and doesn’t last that long. Think about it.
The visit to the Emerald Grotto does not last long and can be done from morning until early afternoon.
Always visit the grotto on sunny days, when the sky is cloudless, so as to enjoy the water emerald shades at their best.
