Underground Museum in Naples
Visit to the Underground museum in Piazza Cavour guided by the mischievous Munaciello
The Underground Museum is part of the Naples underground route, and is a suggestive and interesting place 25 meters deep right under Piazza Cavour.
Many events such as murder mystery dinners, art performances, exhibitions, themed evenings and shows, concerts and escape rooms also take place here, in the beautiful setting of the Neapolitan bowels.
The entrance to the Underground Museum is in Piazza Cavour 140, right near the metro stop. You can visit the anti-aircraft shelter from the Second World War, the cisterns of the ancient aqueduct and the caves dug into the tuff.
You will be accompanied by the Munaciello, a classic Neapolitan figure halfway between a kind spirit and a mischievous little demon, who will accompany you with irony on a journey rich in history and legends.
Once you leave the museum, go to Borgo dei Vergini where you will find the famous Pasticceria Poppella, order one of their legendary “snowflakes” and you will not regret it.
The routes of underground Naples are quite high, so you don’t have a feeling of oppression.
Those who suffer from claustrophobia can inform the guide, who will take care to avoid narrow tunnels and galleries. It is understood that it is still a closed and underground route, so claustrophobics could have anxiety problems.
