Persano Oasis

In the Serre area, in the province of Salerno, there is the oasi WWF di Persano (Persano WWF oasis), 110 hectares of pristine soil, water and nature, that house otters and several wild species.

At the entrance of the oasis there is the Centro visite (Visit Centre), where you can buy the 6,00 € ticket and ask for a guided tour (there is an extra charge for the guide). 

Leaving the Centre walk along the Sentiero Natura (Nature Path) that passes through the Persano protected area; this is a walk on wooden gangways through the wild nature of the wood, that leads to three concealed observatories. Here, depending on season, you can spot the animal that symbolizes the oasis: the otter, but you could spot turtles, aquatic birds, foxes, weasels and badgers as well. 

Next to the oasis car park researchers have recreated a Paleolithic village for educative purposes, where you can find several picnic tables for a relaxing stop surrounded by the oasis’s peaceful atmosphere. 

Drive along the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway and take the exit signposted Campagna, then proceed on the left along the SS 19 state road. After a while, turn left and take the fork towards via Falzia and after 1 km you will reach the entrance to the oasi di Persano in via Falzia 13.
