It is true that those who come to the Amalfi Coast want a vacation in the tranquility of crystal clear waters, but for those who want a bit of adventure there are many excursions to do in Amalfi, both by sea and by land.
The Emerald Grotto is located in Conca dei Marini, right next to Amalfi, and is a karst cave that, thanks to the play of light, has beautiful emerald tones and is filled with rather large stalactites and stalagmites.
If you look carefully at the bottom of the sea inside the cave you will notice an underwater nativity scene. The Emerald Grotto can be reached both by sea and by land.
In the summer months you may encounter long lines for both the boats and the entrance to the cave.
Ferriere Valley of Amalfi, also known as Mills Valley, is an enchanting nature reserve, made of wild nature, waterfalls, ancient ferns, flowers and wild animals.
The path starting from Amalfi towards Mills Valley is considered the easy one, the CAI denomination is “path 325 CAIML Sentiero basso di Valle delle Ferriere”. The departure is from Amalfi in Piazza Flavio Gioia where path 325 begins that will lead to the Oriented Nature Reserve whose entrance fee is 5 euros.
The route from Amalfi towards the Valle delle Ferriere Reserve is 3.2 km long and lasts about an hour, the advice if you have children with you is that they are at least 6 years old; along the road you will find various points for water supplies, so bring your water bottle with you.
Dress appropriately with a k-way, hiking shoes and a hat! If you suffer from allergies, we recommend long trousers in fresh cotton or linen.
Legend has it that the Gods, in pursuit of the fugitive Ulysses, ran along what is now called the Path of the Gods, a walk through the wonderful panoramas of the Amalfi Coast truly worthy of a God.
From Amalfi, take the bus to Agerola, where the “low” Path of the Gods starts. T
The path that presents itself to us is also suitable for less experienced walkers, but it must be considered that it is still more than 5 km long and lasts almost 4 hours (one way).
Once you reach the end of the path in Nocelle di Positano, you can continue along a staircase of 1500 steps, which, following the signs, will take you to the center of Positano.
The best times for trekking the Path of the Gods are spring and autumn.
