Caserta: walk the Path of King
Strolling along the paths of the San Vito forest
The lush forest of San Vito at the foot of Mount Tifata, a few minutes from the center of Caserta, offers a rich flora typical of the Mediterranean scrub, remains of Bourbon hydraulic systems, a varied fauna among which the spectacled salamander stands out, and many paths all to discover, including the Path of the King of Caserta.
From the village of San Leucio in the Vaccheria area, the road that leads to the San Vito forest starts, where you will find various paths such as the Rocce, Salamandre, Generale Garonna, and Noccioli, all simple and marked by red and white signs.
All these paths form the path of King of Caserta, so called because in the past the forest and its paths were the favorites of the Bourbons for their hunting trips.
From San Leucio, crossing the forest, you arrive at Sant’Angelo in Formis, at the height of the beautiful Benedictine Basilica of the Lombard era built on the remains of the Roman temple of the goddess Diana Tifantina, absolutely worth a visit.
Nei pressi della Basilica si trova il ristorante BorgAntico che offre cucina tipica casertana rivisitata, e l’azienda agricola La Pianurella famosa per la sua produzione di olio.
Located in San Leucio, A&O Apartment offers a sauna and free private parking.
The air-conditioned apartment features 2 bedrooms, a flat-screen TV, and a kitchen.
