San Marco di Castellabate is right after Santa Maria. These two adjoining towns share the spiaggia del Pozzillo (Pozzillo’s Beach), a long strip of golden sand that offers both a free beach and a full facilities area, with shallow water perfect for children.
In San Marco there is also the spiaggia della grotta (Grotto’s beach), that goes from the tourist harbour up to the natural grotto dug in the cliff. Here, the sun begins to hit late in the morning and the sea is very clear, although it is close to the harbour.
The spiaggia del Lago (Lake’s beach) is north of Santa Maria, not far from punta Tresino (Tresino end). It is a 1,5 km strip of sand, perfect for snorkeling lovers, that will have the chance to meet several beautiful marine species, such as sea turtles.
Proceeding towards the centre of Santa Maria you will get to the small spiaggia di Punta dell’Inferno (Hell’s Peak Beach); keep walking and you will reach spiaggia dello Scario (Scario’s beach).
Right next to spiaggia dello Scario, there is the spiaggia di Marina piccola (Small coast beach), a not so wide beach with full facilities, with the statue of Santa Maria a mare dominating it. Walking away from the sea you will reach some wood steps that lead to the centre of the town, among coffee bars and restaurants overlooking the sea.
Last but not least, there is the spiaggia del Pozzillo. From this beach you can easily reach San Marco by walking along the water’s edge.
If you want to have some food, stop at Pane a Mare, a small restaurant right after the spiaggia di Marina piccola in Santa Maria. It offers delicious homemade sandwiches.
