Capo Palinuro is a promontory of limestone rock overlooking the sea, famous for its scenic beauty, its caves and its lighthouse, the wonderful beaches and the natural Arch of Palinuro.
The waters rich in currents of Capo Palinuro have carved numerous inlets and caves in its rock overlooking the sea.
The blue cave so called for the bright blue color that characterizes it, the silver cave, the cave of bones where bones of prehistoric animals have been found, the cave of the monks whose brown stalagmites recall monks in prayer, the cave of blood because of the red color of its walls, the trumpet cave and the ladder cave, and the stinking cave so called for its sulfurous waters.
