Discovering the Fuorigrotta zoo among animals and activities for children
The Naples Zoo is a large wildlife park surrounded by greenery of over 100,000 square meters, which hosts 409 animal species and 202 plant species.
Among the many areas that can be visited are those dedicated to activities for children and the picnic area.
The Naples Zoo is located in Fuorigrotta in via Kennedy 76, it can be reached by car via the Naples ring road, exiting at Fuorigrotta or Agnano, and following the signs for the zoo or for the Mostra d’Oltremare. At the two entrances to the zoo, via Terracina and via Kennedy, there are parking lots where you can park your car for the whole day at a cost of €3.00.
The zoo can also be reached by metro: the L2 stops at Campi Flegrei and the Cumana stops at the Edenlandia station in via Kennedy (it is preferable to take this one). Once you get off the metro in a few minutes you are at the entrance.
The Neapolitan wildlife park has recently (2016) been the subject of a long restoration process, since it was built in 1940 and has had a troubled history that goes from the maximum splendor of the 50s to decay and abandonment.
Today, the Naples zoo has been completely reborn thanks to the entrepreneur Floro Flores. There are many areas to visit, such as the reptile house and the insectarium, the aviary, the tiger and elephant areas, the savannah area and the crocodile area, the Madagascar fossa and the cercopithecus area, the diversified habitats that host lemurs, seals, bears, tapirs and kangaroos, among others.
In the zoo there are 409 animal species and 202 plant species, which make it a real botanical garden, in addition to the educational areas for children such as the knowledge hut and the educational farm.
If you spend the day at the zoo, you can also use the picnic area for lunch.
Right next to the zoo is Edenlandia, a historic amusement park in Naples also famous for its excellent graffa.
