WHAT TO SEE IN SOLOPACA

The historic center of the village of Solopaca is quite small (1.5 km) and has an elongated shape, here there are small churches and historic buildings such as the Palazzo Ducale and the Palazzo Cutillo which houses the MEG – Museo Enogastronomico di Solopaca.

Of particular interest is the Maria Cristina bridge, at the entrance to the town, a bridge that overlooks the Calore river built on the old hanging bridge built by King Ferdinand II in 1835 and named after his beloved wife.

From the historic center, following the winding Via Roseto, you arrive at the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Roseto overlooking the Telesina Valley, an isolated place of worship and peace surrounded by greenery that houses the Romanesque Marian statue.

While if you take the SS40 you arrive at the Alto Calore aqueduct of Solopaca, embellished by the installations of the artist Mimmo Paladino, such as the diviner of the hidden springs, and by the plays of light designed by the architect Cannata. From a simple water reservoir to a unique and evocative experience thanks to art.

SOLOPACA WINERY

Just outside the historic center you will find landscapes made of hills and vineyards, following via Sannitica you will arrive at the Solopaca winery in via Bebiana, an agricultural cooperative among the oldest in Campania that welcomes under its wing 600 winemakers.

The flagship of the area is certainly the Solopaca DOC, but excellent Aglianico, Falanghina, Greco and Fiano, Coda di Volpe and Barbera are also produced.

The Solopaca winery can be visited and you can buy their wines on site at competitive prices, for more information visit cantinasolopaca.it

Speaking of grapes… the Solopaca winery, together with other associations, organizes the ancient Grape Festival on the second Sunday of September, a festival dedicated to Solopaca gold with parades with allegorical floats set up entirely with millions of grapes.
