HOW TO GET THERE

The museum is located in via Pietrarsa 16, and what better way to get there than by train?

The regional and metropolitan train Naples-Salerno stops at Pietrarsa-San Giorgio a Cremano, right outside the museum entrance; if you want to make your visit even more suggestive, take the Pietrarsa Express, the historic train that leaves from the center of Naples and arrives in Pietrarsa.

WALKING AMONG THE LOCOMOTIVES

Where the Pietrarsa railway museum stands today, there once was the royal Bourbon factory, the first Italian industrial complex where locomotives were built and iron was worked, a precursor to the large factories that would arrive half a century later and an iconic place where the Italian railways were born.

The 7 pavilions of the museum are enormous and host a fantastic collection of locomotives of all kinds, animations, models that will transport you on an incredible journey back in time from 1839 to the 1980s, when trains were true works of art. The locomotives can also be visited from the inside, which makes this museum a real playground for adults but especially for children.

A virtual visit via augmented reality is also available to guests, allowing them to understand how the legendary Bayard locomotive was built for King Ferdinand II and the first Naples-Portici railway line.
