Marina di Corricella in Procida, simply known as “la corricella”, is a very charming small fishing village with a beautiful seventeenth-century marina.
It is located just below Terra Murata, and can be reached via two stairways: the Pennino stairway in via San Rocco and the Scura stairway in via Scotti.
Marina di Corricella in Procida is easily recognisable: its colorful houses, the charming 17th century marina, the very narrow streets, the small boats and the fishermen at work setting up their nets.
The colorful houses of Corricella have in their architecture the typical “Vefi”, the characteristic balconies surmounted by arches of Arab origin. The brilliant colors of the corricella are mostly in shades of yellow, pink, blue and green, which once served sailors to distinguish their homes in the distance.
After having dinner in one of the restaurants overlooking the sea, take a walk through Corricella which is totally off limits to vehicles: here it will be just you, the sea and the sunset.
Before going down to Corricella, stop to have an ox tongue with lemon cream typical of Procida in one of the bars on Via Roma.
