Sorgeto bay: Open-air thermal waters

The Sorgeto bay in Ischia is a true open-air thermal park and is completely free.

It is between Baia della Pelara and the Sant’Angelo d’Ischia hamlet.

HOW TO GET TO THE SORGETO BAY

Let’s begin by saying that the Sorgeto bay is hard to reach. In fact, the path is difficult and steep. It begins in Punta Chiarito and proceeds along a very steep 234 steps staircase.

Keep in mind that this staircase awaits you on the way back as well.

SMARTIP

Take a pair of shoes with you, as there is no sand here, just slippery rocks. Moreover, being the bay so small, keep in mind that it can be very crowded during the high season.

SORGETO THERMAL WATERS

The Sorgeto bay waters are a mixture of hot thermal water gushing out from the underground at 90 degrees and cold sea water.

In the middle of the bay, that is a crescent-shaped rock strip, there are natural pools made of rocks where you can enjoy the therapeutic effects of steam baths.

Here you will also find the “la sorgente” restaurant, that sells the thermal mud you can apply on your body and let it dry in the sun.
