The island of Vivara is a crescent of volcanic origin of about 3 km attached to Procida by a bridge.
The islet is a protected natural oasis, as well as a state nature reserve.
The Vivara island is wild and uncontaminated, rich in plants and animals, as well as the cradle of archaeological finds of Mycenaean and pre-Mycenaean origin.
The islet guards an important flora and fauna heritage, such as the wild rabbit and the Strawberry Tree Nymph butterfly.
The bridge to get from Procida to Vivara is 362 m long and is located between the promontory of Santa Margherita and Procida, and can be crossed on foot.
The island can usually be visited on weekends, but at the end of the bridge there is a closed gate, so always check on the website vivarariservanaturalestatale.it that it is open, and book your visit on www.comune.procida.na.it
Visitors can access Vivara Island only with the Reserve’s Naturalistic Guides from TUESDAY to SUNDAY, observing the weekly closure on Monday. For more information: https://tickets.vivarariservanaturalestatale.it/
