The 19th-century Palazzo Donnaregina, in the historic center of Naples, houses the extraordinary Madre Museum of Naples, the Donnaregina museum of contemporary art, three floors of permanent and temporary exhibitions.
The MADRE museum in Naples is located in via Settembrini 79, to get there you need to take the L2 metro and get off at Piazza Cavour.
The rooms on the first floor of the MADRE museum in Naples host the permanent collection, in each room there are the works of a different artist: the sculptures of the Indian Kapoor, the architectural work in situ by Buren, the painting by Domenico Bianchi, the fresco and the ceramic floor by Francesco Clemente, the conceptual works by Giulio Paolini, the installation by Kounellis, the canvases by Jeff Koons, the arte povera by Fabro, the figurative and architectural works by Mimmo Paladino, the “capuzzelle” by Rebecca Horn, the mud installation by Long, the sculptural work by Serra, the conceptual art by Sol LeWitt.
The second floor of the MADRE is dedicated to the artists who have been the pillars of contemporary art such as Warhol, Schifano, Fontana and many others.
The third floor, in general, hosts temporary exhibitions, while on the fourth floor there is the terrace where Paladino’s horse is located and from which you can enjoy the view of Naples.
Once you leave the museum, head towards Via Foria and reach Via Cesare Sersale 1 where you will find the Antica Pizzeria da Michele, to eat one of the best pizzas in the city.
