The Diocesan Museum of San Matteo in the historic center of Salerno, is located in the palace of the archiepiscopal seminary and is the main custodian of the history of Campania from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century.

The collection of the Diocesan Museum of Salerno includes many works of art and artifacts such as the famous Ivories of Salerno with scenes from the Old and New Testament, an illuminated scroll of the Exultet, the wooden cross of Robert of Guiscard, tempera and canvases, a numismatic collection of Magna Graecia, the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire and the Mint of Salerno, and many other works.
From the museum you can reach the San Pietro Complex in a few minutes.
