La Salerno Maritime Terminal by Zaha Hadid stands on the Molo Manfredi (Manfredi Dock), between the seafront and the commercial harbour.
The terminal was inaugurated in 2016 and it is in the high quality architecture projects list by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
The Salerno Maritime Terminal was designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, that passed away before the end of the construction. It recalls the shape of a huge curvy oyster laying on the sea.
It is a two-level structure made of concrete with glass windows overlooking the harbour and the Amalfi coast. The roof is covered in ceramics.
The maritime terminal is the place where boats and ferries to the Amalfi coast, the Sorrento coast, the Cilento coast and the Capri and Ischia islands dock and leave. Moreover, the cruise ships dock and leave from here as well.
The structure often houses exhibitions, events and conventions. There is also the Bahr coffee bar to have a cocktail or a coffee enjoying the view of Salerno and of the Amalfi coast as well.
The best moment to have a walk along the terminal is at night, when the led lights along the outline of the oyster are on and reflect the sea light on the structure.
