The Seafront and the Municipal Villa of Salerno

The seafront of Salerno is a 2 km walk overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, with a view on the Amalfi Coast, that gets to the Villa Comunale (Municipal Villa).

Once you get to the Salerno train station, take one of the streets towards the sea to get to the Trieste seafront, a 2 km walk full of trees and benches, where you can relax admiring the sea.

Along the seafront, that goes from Piazza della Libertà to the tourist harbour, there are many coffee bars and kiosks.

After a while, you will reach the spiaggia di Santa Teresa (Santa Teresa beach), one of the most popular places in Salerno to relax, with its big steps overlooking the sea and the famous chiosco Santa Teresa (Santa Teresa kiosk), that offers good coffee and cocktails by the sea.

At the end of the seafront there is the Villa Comunale, a small green oasis…a walk among Mediterranean botanical species and ancient wrought iron benches. Inside the Municipal Villa there are several statues, a pond, the Don Tullio fountain, that pours fresh water.

The Villa houses several events, such as the Giardino della Minerva event and the Giardino Incantato (Enchanted Garden) Christmas lights, that are part of the Luci D’Artista project. Moreover, right in front of the Villa there is the Teatro Municipale Giuseppe Verdi (Giuseppe Verdi Municipal Theatre), and if you walk along the narrow alleys perpendicular to Via Roma you will reach the historic centre of Salerno.

If you keep walking from the Municipal Villa towards the harbour area (molo Manfredi – Manfredi harbour) you will get to the Stazione Marittima di Zaha Hadid (Zaha Hadid’s Maritime Terminal).
