The island of Ischia is a paradise made of nature, thermal baths, sea and great food, just like the near islands of Procida and Capri. It is a fascinating place, the best one for your holidays.
Here is a small guide to the public transport of Ischia and some information about how to reach the island.
You can easily get to Ischia by ferry or hydrofoil.
In Napoli, the ferryboats and the hydrofoils leave from Molo Beverello, Calata di Massa and Pozzuoli and arrive at Porto di Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, and Forio (hydrofoils only) as well.
The hydrofoil takes about one hour; the ferryboat takes 70 minutes.
Be careful because in Ischia DISEMBARKATION is not allowed. It may vary every year and usually applies to certain months (from April to October).
The embarkation of cars, motorcycles and mopeds is not allowed unless you are a resident of the island. It is important to limit the traffic circulation, otherwise the island would be stuffed with tourists’ vehicles during the peak months.
If you are staying in Ischia for more than a couple of days, we suggest that you should rent either a bike or an e-bike to tour the island; it will be a unique experience.
You can get around Ischia by bus. The buses reach all the areas and the ticket is only € 1,50 (2 euros on board). The one-day ticket is € 4,50.
You can also rent a scooter at one of the many agencies in Ischia. It is a convenient way to tour the island.
