Visit the small sea village of Erchie, a jewel of the Amalfi Coast. There are few residents in this village that is situated between Cetara and Maiori.
It is surrounded by ledges, designated as vineyards and citrus groves, and by the Lattari Mountains. You can’t drive through the village; you can only go on foot. It is a true paradise!
To reach Erchie you can take the SITAsud bus toward Amalfi that leaves from the Salerno train station. You have to get off right after Cetara and proceed on foot until you reach the “Erchie” sign, where you will find the small staircase heading to the village.
You can also rent a motor-scooter at the Salerno train station. In this case, to get to Erchie you have to drive along the 163 Amalfi state road and watch out for the “Erchie” sign or you could miss it! Once you get there, you have to park the motor-scooter in one of the three parking lots (3 euros per hour) as you can only enter the village on foot by the staircase.
There is a beautiful small bay in Erchie but it is reachable only by boat or, if you are athletic enough and have the right pair of shoes on, by climbing some rocks. It is known as the Sgarruppo bay. You won’t find any comfort there, just the wonderful sea!
There are two main beaches in the Erchie village and they are right between the two Saracen towers, once used as watchtowers: Torre La Cerniola, well preserved, and Torre Capo Tummolo. Both the beaches have a lido, restrooms and a crystal clear sea.
