Forio village in Ischia and Poseidon Gardens

Located between Borgo Sant’Angelo and Lacco Ameno, the village of Forio in Ischia is the largest in Ischia, with its beaches, gardens, spas, churches and towers it is a stop not to be missed.

The village of Forio in Ischia is full of towers that were once used to spot Saracens and Turks, but the largest is the Torrione di Forio, dating back to 1480, which today houses the Civic Museum whose entrance costs €2.00.

In the lower room of the Torrione, exhibitions of various types of artists are set up, while in the upper room there is Giovanni Maltese’s permanent exhibition.

Near the Torrione, towards the seafront, there is the Chiesa del Soccorso, another symbol of Ischia, while on the other side you enter the historic center of Forio.

Near the beach of San Francesco, there are the famous La Mortella Gardens, Lady Walton’s garden museum, where you can walk immersed in the greenery of the most varied botanical species.

Other gardens to visit are the Ravino Gardens near the Cava dell’Isola beach, a botanical park with the largest European collection of succulents.

In the Bay of Citara there is the Giardini di Poseidon Thermal Park, open every day from 9:00 to 19:00 in the spring-summer period. Here there are 20 swimming pools fed by thermal springs at various temperatures (from 20° to 40°), an equipped beach with a very clean sea, a park full of greenery.

Among the treatments there are both thermal and aesthetic ones, such as underwater massages, natural saunas, hydromassages, Kneipp groups, Japanese circulatory thermal path, rhythmic therapy, and much more. It is also possible to consult the spa doctor, who will tell you which spa program is right for you.
Inside the Gardens of Poseidon there are three refreshment points, including the Wine Cave created inside an ancient cellar dug into the tuff.

You can get to the thermal park by bus line 2 which leaves from Ischia Porto and gets off at Baia di Citara.
