Walking on the Terminio mount in summer is an amazing experience, not only because of the fresh air, but also because the path is completely surrounded by nature and once you reach the top you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno and, on clear days, of the Vesuvius as well.
The walk on the Terminio mount starts in the Campolaspierto plateau – Volturara Irpina. You can get there driving along the highway and taking the exit signposted Avellino est, then proceeding along the SS Ofantina/Ofantina bis state road towards Montella. Once you got there, continue driving towards Campolaspierto where you will find the Piccolo Ranch stables.
Not far from the stables, there is the path to the top of the Terminio mount, indicated by the CAI road signage, that goes through the beech grove up to the Acqua del Cerchio spring, proceeding towards the Collelungo passage up to the top of the mount marked by a cross, where you can enjoy some fresh air and a breathtaking view.
The Campolaspierto-Terminio mount path is an “escursionistico” level path, that is a not that demanding path, but it takes around three hours (one-way) and requires trekking poles.
Before reaching Piccolo Ranch, there is a car park with a 200 metres long uphill road that leads to the beautiful panoramic ledge named Ripa della Falconara. Stop by and enjoy the breathtaking view for it is worth it!
The Piccolo Ranch stables in Campolaspierto are quiet stables with a picnic area surrounded by nature, offering the chance to enjoy horse rides to the Terminio mount or even calash tours, for those who don’t want to ride, that include a sandwich by the river. Moreover, you can book a picnic wooden table with barbecue, perfect to enjoy some char-grilled meat in the woods.
The Hotel Serino, immersed in a naturalistic oasis in the heart of Irpinia, offers incredibly suggestive scenery, between the Sabato valley and Mount Terminio.
The Antica Osteria o’Calabriasuotto restaurant serves the best traditional local cuisine on the covered terrace with panoramic views.
