The Benevento roman theatre is one of the best-preserved theatres in the world. It is in the Triggio medieval district, near the historic centre, a place rich in charm in itself for its legends and its narrow streets.
The Benevento Roman theatre was built during the Emperor Hadrian dominion. It was abandoned during the Lombard domination and survived the Second World War bombing. Around 1950 it was renovated and today it consists of a 98 metres semi round cavea and a 30 metres orchestra pit; the scaenae frons is partially preserved and can host 15.000 spectators.
In summer, it houses prose, opera and dancing events, resuming its original purpose.
From the Triggio district you can easily get to the San Clementina area to visit the Roman Leproso Bridge and the Santi Quaranta cryptoporticus, near the Basilica della Madonna delle Grazie (Madonna delle Grazie Cathedral).
The B&B AL TEATRO ROMANO is located in Benevento near the roman theatre, the property offers free WiFi plus a 24-hour front desk.
The air-conditioned bed and breakfast comes with a kitchen, a seating area, a dining area and a flat-screen cable TV. Towels and bed linen are provided.
