The Chairlift of the Monte Solaro

The Monte Solaro (Solaro Mount) is the tallest mount in Capri. It is 589 m tall and you can get there either by the chairlift of the Solaro Mount or by walking one of the many hiking routes.

The view from the mount takes both the gulfs and the entire island: a lodge among the clouds.

HOW TO GET TO THE CHAIRLIFT OF THE SOLARO MOUNT

You can take the bus that leaves from either Marina Grande beach or Piazzetta di Capri and that stops at Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri, not far from the ancient gate to the village where you will find the chairlift station (via Caposcuro 10).

THE STAIRWAY TO THE SKY

The chairlift of the Solaro Mount is also known as “stairway to the sky” as it connects Anacapri to the Solaro Mount with its 156 wooden single seats. The chairlift takes 13 minutes, proceeding slowly to enable people to enjoy the amazing views.

The return ticket is 14 euros, the one-way ticket is 9 euros.

Once on the top of the mount, you can take incredible pictures of the landscape; furthermore, you can relax at the “Canzone del cielo”, an American bar that is the only rest area of the mount.

In summer, the chairlift works from 9.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Before reaching the chairlift, check the opening hours on the capriseggiovia.it website, as it may not be working due to maintenance.

SMARTIP

We suggest that you reach the top of the Solaro Mount by chairlift but get back to Anacapri on foot.

The path takes 45 minutes but it is definitely worth it if you wear comfortable shoes!

CENTRELLA PATH

On the road that goes from Mount Solaro to Anacapri there is the path to the Hermitage of Centrella, built around 1400.

Beyond the church it is possible to admire the bell tower, the sacristy, the kitchen and some cells where Franciscan and Dominican friars lived, finding these places long for peace and serenity.
