Concerto liqueur of Tramonti
The historic herbal liqueur of Tramonti
After limoncello, the second best-known liqueur of the Amalfi Coast is the Concerto liqueur, created by the expert hands of the nuns of the Royal Conservatory of Saints Joseph and Teresa in Tramonti, who used it as a medicine.
Today the doses of Concerto liqueur are passed down from family to family, because in Tramonti it is much more than a simple digestive, it is a way to welcome people who enter the house and honor them with a small glass of good traditional liqueur.
The name of this alcoholic digestive (30°) comes from the set of herbs that compose it, including licorice, fennel, cloves, nutmeg, edelweiss, mint, and many others that are left to macerate together with the alcohol for almost two months. After filtering everything, coffee, barley, which give it a dark color, and sugar are also added.
After bottling the liqueur obtained, wait at least another two months before drinking it, perhaps accompanying it with aubergines with chocolate.
In Tramonti you can buy Concerto liqueur at the historic Liquori Tentazioni (Pucara), which produces it just like the nuns did.
The path of the 13 churches (CAI path 310) is a route that winds through the 13 churches of the 13 hamlets of Tramonti, it is of medium difficulty and lasts more than 6 hours there and back.
This path allows you to truly visit the mountain village of Tramonti in all its beauty.
