Every year, in Salerno, Christmastime starts in October, when hundreds of artistic lights (luci d’artista) appear all over the city.
This special event is an exhibition of lighting art that deals with specific themes such as dream, myth and time, and that covers different areas of the city centre.
The luci d’artista of Salerno (ARTISTIC LIGHTS) are installed all over the city: the historic centre, the Municipal Villa (where people can explore a true lighting animal zoo), the Pastena, Mercatello and Torrione districts, the Giardino della Minerva (Minerva Garden), the harbour, the Duomo (Cathedral) area and other places are covered in lights.
For an immersive experience, the Municipality of Salerno provides a dedicated app (Luci d’artista Comune di Salerno) to plan the visit; moreover, scanning the lights’ QRcode you get more information about the lighting installation.

It is very difficult to park your car in Salerno during the luci d’artista period, but you can get a Luci d’Artista Card that allows booking a parking lot and get a reduced price; moreover, you also get discounts on museums tickets and b&b.
The best solution to parking problems is to park within the Parco Arbostella area and then take the underground train that gets to the Salerno central train station and proceed walking around the city centre.
