The protected area of Gaiola’s submerged park begins in Marechiaro and ends at Baia di Trentaremi; it includes the Gaiola small island with its beautiful villa, the Gaiola’s beach and San Basilio’s bay where you can take a swim, and the underwater archaeological park with its ruins of harbours, fish farms and ancient villas where the rich and multi-coloured fish fauna swims.
Whereas on the land there are the tempio della Gaiola (Gaiola’s Temple) dating back to the Roman era, the teatro greco (Greek theatre), the Roman era palazzo degli spiriti di Marechiaro (Marechiaro’s Ghosts Palace), that according to legend is haunted by as old as the hills ghosts, wandering along the coast at night, spotted by sailors and fishermen passing by.
You can choose among several tours of the submerged park: the see-through bottom boat itinerary, the snorkeling itinerary, the scuba diving itinerary, the land itinerary (that includes a visit to the Pausilypon archaeological park and to the Seiano grotto) and the integrated itinerary.
