Agerola’s dairy products
Mozzarella, ricotta, provolone and cheeses produced by the prized Agerola cows
The cows that graze freely on the hilly and mountainous areas of Agerola are so prized that they are a breed in themselves: the Agerola cattle breed, whose milk gives Agerola dairy products an unmistakable flavour.
The Agerola cows that graze on the Lattari Mountains produce the magnificent white gold used to produce fior di latte, caciocavallo, caciotta, provola, ricotta and provolone del Monaco DOP, the famous semi-hard aged cheese, all typical products of the Agerola area.
This small town close to the Amalfi Coast is dotted with dairies where you can buy the delicious dairy products of Agerola, including the historic Fior d’Agerola dairy, where you absolutely must try their fior di latte braids and ciliegine, as well as the excellent provolone del Monaco.
Numerous trekking routes start from Agerola, including the Path of Gods. Before starting the walk, stop at one of the local delicatessens and take with you a Caprese sandwich made with Agerola fior di latte and tomatoes!
In Agerola there is the Fattoria del Castello, a family-run mini dairy, with all 0 km products that transforms only self-produced milk into magnificent dairy products.
Here you can taste excellent local products such as cold cuts and cheeses, olives, breadsticks, cannoli filled with Agerola ricotta, and much more.
